Iran launches missile barrage on Israel | Air defenses under pressure

Missile attacks launched from Iran have struck multiple areas across Israel, causing fires and damage in several cities as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate.

Reports indicate that debris from intercepted missiles and shrapnel caused fires in parts of central Israel, including areas between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Cities such as Bnei Brak, Lod, and Ramla were among the locations affected as air defense systems attempted to intercept incoming projectiles.

The strikes were part of a wider wave of missile attacks targeting different regions of Israel over the last 24 hours, including northern, central, and southern areas. One of the most significant incidents occurred in the southern city of Eilat, where cluster munitions reportedly spread damage across multiple locations. Several people were injured, including a child.

Military analysts say the use of cluster munitions presents new challenges for missile defense systems, forcing them to intercept multiple fragments and increasing pressure on defensive capabilities.

Israeli officials say the country is now entering what they describe as a decisive phase in the conflict. At the same time, the government has reportedly approved hundreds of millions of dollars in emergency defense spending to replenish military supplies and maintain air defense systems.

Beyond Israel, the regional conflict is also affecting neighboring countries. Israeli military activity has increased along the border with Lebanon, where air strikes have targeted areas linked to Hezbollah. Several people have been killed in recent attacks, including medical workers and civilians.

The situation has raised fears that the conflict could widen further across the Middle East, with the potential for increased military operations involving multiple regional actors.

In this video we break down the latest developments, the significance of the missile attacks, and the growing pressure on Israel’s defense systems.
