Después de mucho tiempo, volvemos a tener un severo caso de una película del tipo “es tan mala que termina siendo buena”.
Dawn of the Mummy se suma al éxito del cine de zombies de los ochenta, pero le da un toque único bajo la siguiente premisa: En Egipto, un grupo de modelos yankis que hacían fotos de moda, se topan sin querer con cazadores de tesoros en una tumba oculta para despertar una maldición ancestral, y con ello, una horda de momias zombies hambrientas de carne humana.
Como es de esperarse de una producción de bajísimo presupuesto, tenemos actuaciones malísimas, un pobre desarrollo de personajes y situaciones ilógicas por doquier, pero a medida que avanza el film, los momentos de diálogos planos se van transformando en un entretenido festín bizarro de gore artesanal que tanto amamos, y los bostezos se convierten en sonrisas de placer.
