Der Fall Daniela Klette hatte die Diskussion angeheizt: Im Februar 2024 wurde die Ex-RAF-Terroristin von der Polizei nach mehr als 30 Jahren Fahndung festgenommen. Monate vorher waren aber bereits Journalisten Klette auf die Spur gekommen – mithilfe einer kommerziellen Software zur Gesichtserkennung, die Milliarden Fotos im Internet durchsucht.Nun sollen auch BKA und Bundespolizei mehr digitale Werkzeuge zur Suche von Täter:innen bekommen – auch mit KI-Software. Innenminister Dobrindt sieht darin zeitgemäße Ermittlungsarbeit, Kritiker:innen warnen vor Massenüberwachung. In Bayern und anderen Bundesländern setzt die Polizei die umstrittene KI-Software Palantir bereits ein. Doch der Bund will eine europäische Lösung. Bundesjustizministerin Hubig stellt klar: „Es wird kein Palantir mit mir geben.“
