Uno scricchiolio, un tonfo e poi urla strazianti e disperate. Per gli abitanti delle case di viale Luzzati che si affacciano sul fiume Botteniga a Treviso c’è voluto più di qualche istante per capire realmente che cosa fosse successo. Alle 18.45 di giovedì un albero secolare si è spezzato all’improvviso e ha travolto due uomini che stavano pescando sulla riva del fiume. Uno di loro, Pietro Monici, 39 anni, originario di Milano ma da sempre residente a Treviso, vigile del fuoco volontario, è rimasto sotto il tronco ed è morto poco dopo mentre gli operatori del Suem 118 stavano cercando di stabilizzarlo. L’amico è invece rimasto ferito in modo lieve, ma sotto choc. «Verranno fatte al più presto tutte le valutazioni su quanto accaduto perché è evidente che questi alberi non sono in condizioni ottimali e bisogna fare chiarezza — interviene il sindaco Mario Conte, arrivato immediatamente sul posto — Adesso però è solo un momento di dolore perché purtroppo un ragazzo ha perso la vita».
