Charlie Kirk shooting: Two suspects released, manhunt underway | LiveNOW from FOX
Charlie Kirk, the conservative firebrand and founder of Turning Point USA, has died after he was shot while speaking at a Utah Valley University event in Orem, Utah.President Donald Trump initially shared news of his death on Truth Social.
"The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead," Trump wrote. "No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!"
The FBI is asking for the public's help with any information, photos and video from the shooting as the gunman is still at large.
Law enforcement initially arrested George Zinn, who was later released and charged with obstruction by the Utah Valley University police, according to a Utah Department of Public Safety news release.
A second suspect, Zacharia Qureshi, was taken into custody and released after being interviewed.
"There are no current ties to the shooting with either of these individuals. There is an ongoing investigation and manhunt for the shooter," DPS said.
