TRIBUN-VIDEO.COM - Baru-baru ini, Mahkamah Konstitusi Republik Indonesia menetapkan suatu putusan yang akan dikenang sepanjang sejarah demokrasi Indonesia.
Melalui Putusan Nomor 135/PUU-XXII/2024, MK menyatakan bahwa mulai tahun 2029, Pemilu Nasional (yang sering diistilahkan sebagai "Pemilu Lima Kotak") dan Pemilu Daerah tidak lagi dilakukan secara serentak dalam satu hari.
Keserentakan pemilihan umum menurut MK harus dibagi menjadi dua, di mana keserentakan pertama adalah untuk memilih Presiden dan Wakil Presiden, Anggota DPR, dan Anggota DPD (nasional), sedangkan keserentakan kedua adalah untuk memilih DPRD dan Kepala Daerah (lokal).
Sekilas keputusan ini tampak teknokratis. Akan tetapi jika dibedah dalam kerangka teori kekuasaan, representasi, dan komunikasi politik publik sesungguhnya putusan ini merupakan reposisi besar dalam skema demokrasi Indonesia.
Reposisi yang bukan hanya sekedar bagaimana pemilu diselenggarakan tetapi juga bagaimana makna demokrasi itu sendiri diartikulasikan, disederhanakan, bahkan didefinisikan ulang.
