India: Flash Floods Sweep Himachal Amid Heavy Monsoon Rain; Cars, Houses Inundated, 170 Killed |N18GMonsoon rains have wreaked havoc across the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. As per the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), from June 20 to date, at least 170 people have died during the monsoon season, and 94 of these deaths were caused by rain-related incidents such as landslides, flash floods, cloudbursts, drowning, electrocution, and lightning. Persistent rainfall and rain-related disasters have blocked roads and cut off remote areas. Since the start of the monsoon season, Himachal's Kullu district has suffered losses exceeding $5.5 million, with Mandi being the worst-affected district.
