በ16 ዓመቱ በፌሽታ የጀመረው የጫት ሱስ የአዲስ አባተን ህይወት ለ19 ዓመታት ሲኦል አድርጎት ነበር። ከስድስተኛ ክፍል ጀምሮ በሱስና በዱርዬነት ህይወት ተይዞ ቤተሰቦቹን በእጅጉ ሲያሰቃይ ኖሯል።
ሱሱ ከቁጥጥር ውጭ በሆነበት ወቅት፣ አዲስ ራሱን ለማጥፋት ብዙ ሞክሯል። የአይጥ መርዝ የወሰደበት፣ በአንገቱ ገመድ አንቆ ሞትን የቀመሰበትና በተአምር የተረፈበት፣ እንዲሁም ራሱን በእሳት አቃጥሎ ከሞት አፋፍ ተመልሶ በህይወት የተረፈበት የሞት ሽረት ትግል አድርጓል።
ዛሬ ግን አዲስ ተለውጧል! ያለፉትን አስከፊ የሱስ ዓመታት አሽቀንጥሮ ጥሏል። የአዲስ አባተ ከሱስ ባርነት ነፃ የመውጣት ጉዞ ብዙዎችን የሚያስደንቅና ተስፋ የሚሰጥ ነው። የእሱ አስገራሚ ለውጥ "በርሜል ጊዮርጊስ ነፍሴን ታደገኝ" በሚለው ርዕስ እንደተገለጸው የመንፈሳዊ እርዳታ እና የጽናት ውጤት ነው።

Our storyteller today is named Addis Abate. True to his name (Addis means 'new'), he has come all the way from Jijiga to our studio to share his astonishing new chapter of life.
At 16, a khat addiction that began at a party turned Addis Abate's life into hell for 19 years. From sixth grade, he was trapped in a life of addiction and delinquency, severely tormenting his family.
When his addiction spiraled out of control, Addis attempted to end his life multiple times. He took rat poison, faced death by hanging himself with a rope and miraculously survived, and even burned himself, returning from the brink of death in a desperate struggle for survival.
But today, Addis has transformed! He has cast off the terrible years of addiction. Addis Abate's journey to freedom from the bondage of addiction is astonishing and provides hope to many. As suggested by the title "Bermel Giorgis Saved My Soul," his incredible transformation is the result of spiritual help and perseverance.
