Un ex agente di polizia della contea di Durham, Stephen Gray, 65 anni, è stato multato per 1.000 sterline per aver condiviso su Facebook un meme a sfondo satirico sul consumo di carne di maiale, giudicato dal giudice distrettuale Steven Hood "concepito per essere offensivo".
Il procedimento era scaturito da una segnalazione di un vicino con cui l'uomo era in causa per una disputa condominiale, dopo che la stessa Procura aveva inizialmente escluso "realistiche prospettive di condanna". Gray ha annunciato ricorso, definendo la vicenda "una legge sulla blasfemia dalla porta di servizio", mentre la sezione 127 del Communications Act, la norma applicata, punisce genericamente i messaggi "grossly offensive" diffusi tramite reti di comunicazione pubbliche.
