Netanyahu menggambarkan Deif, kepala sayap militer Hamas, sebagai "perencana dan pemimpin" serangan 7 Oktober yang memicu perang Gaza.
Al-Arabiya melaporkan, Deif menduduki puncak daftar orang Israel yang paling dicari selama beberapa dekade.
Deif telah selamat dari tujuh upaya pembunuhan Israel, yang terbaru pada tahun 2021.
