Juru bicara UNICEF, James Elder, menilai zona aman yang disebut Israel hanyalah “tempat kematian.”
Ia menuturkan bahwa gagasan zona aman di wilayah selatan Gaza adalah sesuatu yang menggelikan.
Pernyataan itu disampaikan Elder di Jenewa pada Jumat (3/10/2025), menanggapi serangan udara Israel yang terus berlanjut di Kota Gaza menjelang invasi darat.
Militer Israel sebelumnya telah mendesak warga Palestina untuk menuju selatan ke daerah Al-Mawasi di pesisir.
Pemerintah Israel mengklaim wilayah itu disiapkan sebagai “zona kemanusiaan” dengan bantuan medis dan logistik.
Namun kenyataannya, Israel beberapa kali tetap menyerang kawasan tersebut dengan dalih menargetkan kelompok Hamas.
Menteri Pertahanan Israel, Israel Katz, bahkan memperingatkan bahwa warga Gaza yang masih bertahan dianggap mendukung militan dan akan menghadapi “kekuatan penuh” dari serangan berikutnya.
Katz menyebut perintah itu sebagai “kesempatan terakhir” bagi penduduk untuk pindah ke selatan.
Menurut laporan media asing, sekira 400.000 warga Palestina telah meninggalkan Kota Gaza sejak Israel melancarkan serangan besar bulan lalu.
Meski begitu, ratusan ribu lainnya masih bertahan karena tak memiliki kemampuan untuk mengungsi.
