Il profilo genetico maschile, ribattezzato "ignoto 3", trovato nel cavo orale di Chiara Poggi a distanza di quasi due decenni dal delitto, ha riportato il caso #Garlasco al centro del dibattito pubblico. Secondo Alessandro De Giuseppe, inviato de #LeIene che da anni segue il caso, questa scoperta potrebbe cambiare radicalmente la storia giudiziaria: "Se questo DNA dovesse arrivare a definire una persona, probabilmente sarebbe la risoluzione, perché ormai mi pare chiaro che sulla scena del delitto ci siano state almeno due persone, forse tre". L’anomalia, tuttavia, non sta solo nella scoperta, ma anche nel suo ritardo: "Saltano fuori evidenze dopo 18 anni che non sono neanche state guardate", denuncia. E ancora: "L'impronta cancellata sul corpo della povera Chiara, le impronte nella casa, il posacenere non repertato, le vaschette della pattumiera... tutto ignorato".
