Curfew ends for U.S. government workers in Mexico after cartel violence

We have heard the stories of a number of Americans who were stuck in Mexico as violence stemming from the killing of a cartel leader spilled out into the streets near popular vacation hot spots. CJNG leader "El Mencho" was killed this past Sunday during a Mexican army raid which was reportedly supported by U.S. intelligence. Jalisco New Generation Cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, better known as El Mencho, was shot during the raid, and died on the way to a hospital. LiveNOW’s Austin Westfall is speaking with retired Marine Intelligence Officer, Hal Kempfer, after the United States Embassy in Mexico issued a security alert Wednesday which signaled a return to normalcy for government employees.

“All restrictions related to the events of February 22 on U.S. government staff in Mexico have been lifted. The U.S. Embassy and all consulates in Mexico are operating normally,” the embassy said. “While flight schedules have returned to normal, if your direct flight to the United States is cancelled, you might consider booking a connecting flight through another Mexican or U.S. city. We have no reports of road closures directed by local authorities.”
