Der Innenausschuss des Bundestags berät über den islamistisch motivierten Terroranschlag am Rande des Christopher Street Days in Berlin. Bundesinnenminister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) soll die Abgeordneten über den Stand der Ermittlungen informieren. Zentrale Frage bleibt laut ARD-Hauptstadtkorrespondent Alexander Budweg, warum die Tat nicht verhindert werden konnte – obwohl es viele Hinweise auf den Täter gegeben hatte.In Berlin hatte am 25. Juli ein islamistischer Attentäter mit einem Auto mehrere Menschen angefahren und weitere vermutlich mit einer Machete attackiert. Eine Frau aus Polen starb, 31 Menschen wurden verletzt. Der zunächst flüchtige 21-Jährige wurde einen Tag später von Polizisten gestellt und erschossen, als er sie nach Polizeiangaben angriff. Abdul B. war von der Polizei als sogenannter Gefährder eingestuft. Er war zu einer noch nicht rechtskräftigen Jugendstrafe verurteilt, aber auf freiem Fuß.
