O ALEIJADINHO DE ARAÇUAÍ - MARCINHO ARTESÃO
Márcio Barbosa Silva, conhecido popularmente como “Marcinho”, é um dos principais artistas do Vale do Jequitinhonha. Nascido e residente na cidade de Araçuaí – MG, ele teve seu primeiro contato com o artesanato pela fabricação de simples obras de argila na zona rural do Município. Hoje, suas peças estão expostas em museus da França, Áustria, Alemanha, Estados Unidos e no Memorial da América Latina, em São Paulo.Marcinho é discípulo de uma das maiores Mestras de ofício do Vale do Jequitinhonha e do Brasil, Josefa Alves dos Reis (Zefa), com quem aprendeu não só a esculpir peças em madeira e argila, mas também o cuidado e o valor atribuído a cada peça trabalhada. Ele conta que Zefa o ensinou a tratar cada material de forma única, atribuindo significado e respeito ao fruto do seu trabalho. Hoje, os ensinamentos recebidos de sua Mestra (In memoriam) são passados adiante pelo próprio artista àqueles que buscam inspiração em sua técnica.
Suas obras, influenciadas pela estética barroca do famoso mestre Aleijadinho, partem de uma ressignificação do estilo clássico mineiro do século XVIII. De forma singular, elas representam uma assimilação dos valores, crenças e feições do povo do Vale.
