Descubren en Brasil un enorme cementerio de esclavos
Salvador, en el noreste de Brasil, fue durante siglos uno de los principales puertos de entrada del tráfico transatlántico de esclavos. En 2025, un equipo de arqueólogos realizó un descubrimiento estremecedor: bajo el asfalto de un aparcamiento, en pleno centro histórico de la ciudad, salió a la luz un enorme cementerio que había estado oculto por casi 200 años. Una página borrada de la historia que hoy resurge para contar un pasado que había permanecido en silencio.Durante diez días de excavaciones intensivas en mayo de 2025, salieron a la luz múltiples osamentas. A solo un kilómetro de este lugar se encuentra el sitio donde incontables esclavos eran azotados hasta la muerte en la época colonial. Hoy, los activistas buscan transformar este estacionamiento en un espacio permanente de memoria histórica.
El Instituto del Patrimonio Histórico y Artístico Nacional ya ha emitido una resolución oficial reconociendo la zona como "Sitio Arqueológico Cementerio de los Africanos", ordenando el cierre definitivo del estacionamiento. Lo que durante décadas funcionó como un simple aparcamiento de coches, hoy resurge como una prueba irrefutable del coste humano de la esclavitud en Brasil.
