Untuk menyelidiki hal tersebut, Tim Independen Lembaga Nasional Hak Asasi Manusia (LNHAM) pun dibentuk yang terdiri dari enam lembaga bidang HAM.
Lembaga itu terdiri dari Komnas HAM, Komisi Nasional Anti Kekerasan Terhadap Perempuan (Komnas Perempuan), Komisi Perlindungan Anak Indonesia (KPAI), Ombudsman Republik Indonesia (ORI), Lembaga Perlindungan Saksi dan Korban (LPSK), dan Komisi Nasional Disabilitas (KND).
Ketua Komnas HAM, Anis Hidayah menyebut tim independen ini dibentuk untuk mendapatkan fakta-fakta yang ada di balik demonstrasi berujung kericuhan yang terjadi belakangan ini.
