Толкающий винт на хвосте: CBA-123 Vector
CBA 123 Vector – турбовинтовой пассажирский самолет, созданный в начале 1990-хх совместно бразильской Embraer и аргентинской FMA.Проект получился очень необычным. Базируясь на фюзеляже самолета EMB 120 Brasilia, он был радикально модернизирован, получив новейшее бортовое оборудование, широкое применение композитных материалов, передовое крыло, а так же главную фишку – турбовинтовые двигатели, расположенные в хвосте, еще и с толкающими винтами. Благодаря этим особенностям, самолет мог похвастаться повышенным уровнем комфорта и отличными летными характеристиками.
Однако, все эти инновации стали причиной краха CBA 123. Самолет получился очень передовым, но ценой этим инновациям стала чрезмерная дороговизна для 19-местного регионального турбопропа. Этот фактор серьезно снизил рыночный спрос на машину. Кроме того, экономический кризис в Бразилии и сокращение расходов на проекты, вынудили Embraer изменить приоритеты, в результате чего, проект CBA 123 был закрыт, а все силы были направлены на создание региональных реактивных лайнеров семейства ERJ. CBA 123 Vector остался ее у дел и до серийного выпуска не дошел. Три созданных прототипа были переданы в музеи в Бразилии и Аргентине.
