E' proprio per questo che insistiamo nel limitare gli scambi commerciali con l'aggressore e nel ridurre noi stessi le entrate della Russia. Molti di voi qui presenti hanno visto più volte come l'abuso del diritto di veto all'Onu indebolisca il mondo e allontani la pace. Quando la Russia dispone di denaro, dice sempre di no - no alla diplomazia - e questo costituisce anch'esso una sorta di veto alla pace: non un diritto ufficiale, ma un veto reale. E quando qualcuno nel mondo allenta le sanzioni - le sanzioni contro gli oligarchi russi - magari rende la vita più comoda ai russi ricchi, ma concede anche più tempo alla guerra; più tempo affinché Putin possa mandare persone povere a morire al fronte. Pertanto, le entrate della Russia devono rimanere un obiettivo. Il deficit di bilancio russo è oggi più elevato che in qualsiasi altro anno e la maggior parte delle regioni russe è già in bancarotta; la Russia aveva pianificato grandi operazioni al fronte per quest'estate, ma sono tutte fallite. L'offensiva russa a base di missili da crociera e droni Shahed non ha prodotto i risultati sperati da Putin. Hanno causato danni, certo, ma non ci hanno piegati. Abbiamo costruito la nostra difesa. Ciò che oggi rappresenta una vera difficoltà per noi sono i missili balistici russi e i loro nuovi droni a propulsione a getto”.
