OBRIGATÓRIO HÁ 12 ANOS, MUITA GENTE NÃO SABE COMO FUNCIONA O ABS

Há mais de dez anos o freio ABS se tornou obrigatório, mas pelas perguntas e questões que eu recebo, eu percebi que o governo só o tornou obrigatório sem nenhuma campanha de esclarecimento, já que poucos sabem exatamente como e por que ele funciona.
Alguns motoristas, inclusive, se queixam de que tem alguma coisa errada no meu ABS. Eles questionam: “outro dia eu entrei em uma curva na estrada e o carro saiu derrapando de lado, eu fui parar no acostamento, quase bati. Isso é sinal de que o ABS não está funcionando, não é mesmo?”
Não, na verdade não é nada disso. O ABS serve para evitar que o carro derrape quando o motorista pisa emergencialmente com muita força no pedal do freio. Ele evita que as rodas deslizem e aumenta o espaço de frenagem. Já o que evita que o carro derrape lateralmente é outro dispositivo de segurança, conhecido como controle eletrônico de estabilidade ou ESC.
