Did Saudi Arabia really fly $1 billion to Tehran to buy peace from the Houthis? Israeli media report that Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, younger brother of Crown Prince MBS, landed in Tehran on a Hercules military aircraft. They say he offered $1 billion to the Iran-backed Houthis, routed through Iran, in exchange for a ceasefire. One source even claims the cash was on the plane. Riyadh confirmed the visit but has not confirmed any money transfer.
The bigger story is who arranged this meeting. Iran says the four-country Tehran talks were proposed by Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir. He was in Tehran twice in about a week, while Pakistan is also Saudi Arabia’s defender under the Makkah Pact and Trump’s mediator with Iran.
