Спор «observability против monitoring» перестал быть философией для конференций. Это уже вопрос денег, скорости релизов и репутации: сколько вы теряете, пока команда в темноте ищет, где именно всё упало.Почему именно сейчас.
Микросервисы, облака, эфемерные ноды, быстрые релизы. Простые аптайм-чеки уже не спасают. Нужна связка: метрики + логи + трейсы + профили. В практику заходят native histograms в Prometheus и continuous profiling как четвёртый сигнал.
Карта инструментов:
Prometheus для метрик (c native histograms), Grafana LGTM(+P): Loki для логов, Tempo для трейсов, Mimir для метрик, Pyroscope для профилей.
OpenTelemetry как стандарт сбора: SDK, Collector, единые semantic conventions. eBPF-observability (Pixie, OTel eBPF-подход) как быстрый старт без ручной инстр. Continuous profiling в проде с Pyroscope и поддержкой профилей в OTel.
Практическая разница на кейсе.
Сценарий: вырос p95 latency в checkout-сервисе.
Мониторинг даёт алерт и красный дашборд.
Observability: кликаем по exemplar на графике, попадаем в трейс с проблемным эндпоинтом, открываем профиль и видим горячую функцию в JSON-сериализации. Фикс точечный, а не «перезапусти всё».
