PART TWO of this 3-part series looks at the transfer of artistic knowledge through master-mentor relationships in Florence during the middle years of the Renaissance. This episode follows Botticelli, Filippino Lippi, Raffaellino del Garbo, and Andrea del Sarto as Renaissance art grows more refined, expressive, and technically accomplished. It highlights Botticelli’s poetic style, Filippino’s emergence as a major master, del Garbo’s role as a respected teacher, and del Sarto’s brilliant fusion of grace, color, and draftsmanship. 

Early Renaissance
PART ONE of this series focuses on Early Renaissance artists Brunelleschi, Donatello, Masaccio, and Fra Filippo Lippi. It explores major artistic breakthroughs in perspective, naturalism, light, and classical form, and includes the Renaissance workshop system, explaining how artists were trained and how great masters helped shape the next generation.

Late Renaissance

PART THREE of this series traces the transition from the High Renaissance into Mannerism through the lives and work of Pontormo and Bronzino. Pontormo pushed Renaissance ideals into a more emotional and experimental direction, and Bronzino carried those innovations forward into a polished style of his own.  The series ends with a brief overview of artistic development throughout the Renaissance era.
