«Model Expo Italy» è l'evento dedicato a trenini elettrici, aeromodelli, mattoncini Lego, giochi da tavolo, fumetti, e videogame. Si tiene nei padiglioni di Veronafiere sabato 7 e domenica 8 marzo con 500 espositori, 110 associazioni e oltre 100 eventi nei padiglioni 7, 8, 9 e 10. Oltre alle figure istituzionali per l'inaugurazione c'erano hanno presenziato il cantautore Giorgio Vanni e la cantante Cristina d’Avena, che incontrano i fan al padiglione 7 (Vanni sabato alle ore 17.30 e D’Avena domenica alle 17). Model Expo è anche modellismo in scala: ferroviario, navale, auto, aereo, statico e dinamico. Fra le novità di questa edizione c'è il Verona Pop&Play Festival, uno spazio che unisce l’immaginario pop, manga, anime e cosplay ai mondi più classici dei boardgame, roleplay e retrogaming, al padiglione 7. Tra le curiosità della 21esima esposizione, uno dei plastici ferroviari più grandi d’Italia: 350 metri di binari con 120 scambi e 30 convogli ferroviari in movimento, ognuno lungo fino a 3 metri. E ancora: la replica in scala 1:1 del biplano Nieuport 11, Bebè, della Prima guerra mondiale, realizzata con il supporto dell’Aeronautica Militare o la Bentley S1 del 1955 utilizzata nel film 007 Missione Goldfinger. È stato anche esposto il diorama «Eroi»: un’opera di oltre 10mila pezzi di Lego che rende omaggio al sacrificio di Giovanni Falcone e Paolo Borsellino.
