Trump menyebut sejauh ini telah berjalan diskusi yang sangat positif dengan kelompok bersenjata Palestina tersebut.
"Telah terjadi diskusi yang sangat positif dengan Hamas, dan negara-negara dari seluruh dunia (Arab, Muslim, dan lainnya) akhir pekan ini, untuk membebaskan para sandera, mengakhiri perang di Gaza, tetapi yang lebih penting, akhirnya telah lama mengupayakan perdamaian di Timur Tengah," kata Trump, Senin (6/10/2025).
Trump mengatakan upaya mencapai kesepakatan pembebasan sandera telah berjalan cepat hingga kini.
Dia mendesak penyelesaian perundingan tahap pertama rampung secepatnya.
Sebelumnya, seorang pejabat senior Hamas mengatakan pihaknya ingin mencapai kesepakatan mengakhiri perang.
Hamas juga berharap dapat melakukan pertukaran tahanan dengan Israel segera, di saat para negosiator berkumpul di Mesir melakukan perundingan.
