I did both a no damage and a no hit for this boss. The no damage requires you to avoid the health-drain mechanic, which means you need to stunlock the boss enough or deal enough damage to prevent it from doing so. I used the madness weapon to chain a bunch of staggers, which allowed me to push enough damage in phase 1 to clear phase 2 before the boss could cast the drain. But because that skips over most of the fight, I also did a no hit version where I only take damage from the health drain, so you can see the rest of the attacks.
Outside of that, the boss is very chaotic and one of the best for group play. When going for no damage solo, it's one of the most unbalanced fights I've ever done. There's a lot of overlapping attacks that often can't be avoided, and the bow summons can be impossible to deal with at times. It's feels like a lot of luck is required to not have annoying overlaps, particularly something like the madness eye build up when the boss casts the walls and no other attacks to cleanse, all while the summon hides behind the wall.
I'll probably do both Maris and Caligo sometime this week, as I missed both of those. And likely Gladius whenever that's available. I also wanted to find some time for the new Witchfire update where I can, as there's 2 new maps I've yet to post and a bunch of new systems. There's some more stuff in D2 I need to do too, but for now I wanted a little break.
This was once again done using the "Free Reign" mod for Nightreign, which allows you to start a boss fight right from roundtable hold. This obviously makes it much easier to deal with, as you don't need to do the 40 minute expedition for an attempt each time. There are some downsides to it, like not being able to get all the bonus buffs and perks from the expedition, and you cannot upgrade weapons from their default state. The stamina regen bug was also fixed, so it functions the same as normal. The obvious upside being that you can fight the bosses without delay, and you can pick any weapon you want to suit the boss, which outweights any downsides.
So as I said before, it may not be considered "legit" to some as it doesn't have the entire 40 minute expedition before it, but honestly it's just not worth the time for me needing to do so much to have a single attempt at each boss for no damage. If you feel differently, that's more than fine, but I'm not willing to waste that much time for boss attempts. Mabe one day Fromsoft will consider adding their own boss re-fight option.
