At the centre of the story is Peddi, played by Ram Charan, a larger-than-life athlete whose struggles become intertwined with the dreams of an entire community. The film's strongest asset is Ram Charan himself. Whether it's the emotional moments, the sports sequences, or the mass-hero elevations, he commits completely to the role and carries much of the film through sheer screen presence.
The film is also visually impressive. From the scale of the village to the action sequences and sports drama, the cinematography consistently elevates the experience. Supporting performances from Shiva Rajkumar and Divyendu Sharma add weight to key moments, while the core story about a community fighting for recognition remains genuinely compelling.
The problem is that Peddi often struggles to trust its own strengths.
Every time the film begins saying something meaningful, it falls back on familiar commercial tropes, excessive hero worship, predictable screenplay beats, and a romance track that frequently distracts from the main story. The film constantly shifts between sports drama, village revolution, romance, action spectacle, and social messaging without fully committing to any one direction.
The result is a movie filled with individual moments that work, but one that never quite comes together as a complete experience.
