Cinnamon 6.8 has officially arrived, bringing exciting improvements to the Linux desktop experience! From hibernation support and modern touchpad gestures to better Wayland compatibility, this release introduces several important changes that Linux Mint users should know about.

In this video, we take a closer look at Cinnamon 6.8 and explore its new features, improvements, and what they mean for the future of Linux Mint.

Here's what we're covering:

- Hibernation support and improved power management
- Modern one-to-one touchpad gestures
- Improved Wayland compatibility
- Better window positioning and multi-monitor support
- Nemo file manager improvements
- Enhanced Sound applet
- Unified VPN and WireGuard management
- oo7 Secret Service integration
- What Cinnamon 6.8 means for Linux Mint 27

Cinnamon 6.8 is expected to become the desktop environment for Linux Mint 27. These improvements show how the Linux Mint team is modernizing its traditional desktop while maintaining the familiar experience users love.

I'll also be particularly interested in testing its Wayland improvements with modern AMD and NVIDIA hardware.

**Important:** Cinnamon 6.8 is a desktop environment release, not a direct upgrade for Linux Mint 22.3. Its integration into Linux Mint 27 is what existing Mint users should look forward to.
