The imperial court organized a competition for swordsmen, culminating in Shi Yuancheng from the south winning the title. However, a man named Thunderbolt Sword challenged him to a duel before the official recognition. Despite sustaining injuries, Shi Yuancheng was defeated, ultimately revealing him as the long-lost brother of Pili Jian. Both Shi Yuancheng and his wife died from their wounds and grief, leaving behind their daughter, Xiaochun, and her apprentice, Xiaodong, who vowed revenge. Twenty years later, Xiaodong, under the name Gu Chong, sought vengeance on his adversaries but found no clues leading to Thunderbolt Sword. He sought assistance from a master swordsmith, known as The Ghost Craftsman, who provided him with a sword and guidance, despite initially refusing to forge a weapon for killing. Gu Chong’s journey continued as he refined his skills and searched for answers about his family's tragedy.
