El 26 de junio de 2026 se publicó una investigación de la Universidad de Oviedo, en España que confirmaba la identificación de una zona asísmica en un lugar raro; se trata de los Picos de Europa, un macizo montañoso entre Asturias, León y Cantabria.
Determinar que una zona sea asísmica es una tarea que lleva mucho tiempo, como dije antes no deben registrarse terremotos; pero hay que monitorear la actividad sísmica de la zona durante periodos de observación significativos décadas o más.
