Portugal, España, EE. UU. y Canadá siguen en alerta ante el aumento de las temperaturas extremas

Las temperaturas en múltiples partes de Europa y América del Norte siguen alcanzando niveles récord. Portugal emitió el nivel máximo de alerta por altas temperaturas e instó a la población a seguir las recomendaciones de las autoridades. 12 de los 18 distritos del Portugal peninsular, incluyendo Lisboa, estarán en alerta roja del jueves al sábado. El Ministerio de Administración Interna del país advirtió que, en los próximos días, las temperaturas pueden llegar a alcanzar los 47 grados. Según datos publicados por el Instituto de Salud Carlos III de Madrid, más de mil muertes fueron atribuibles al calor extremo en España solo en el mes de junio. La Agencia Estatal de Meteorología destacó que el mes pasado fue el segundo mes de junio más caluroso desde que se tienen registros. También se están registrando temperaturas extremas del este al medio oeste de Estados Unidos. Se espera que las alertas por altas temperaturas se prolonguen hasta el 4 de julio, fecha en la que el país celebra los 250 años de su declaración de independencia. En Canadá, el calor sofocante y las condiciones atmosféricas inestables han elevado el riesgo de fuertes tormentas.
