Ab der achten Klasse geht es für einen Teil der Schüler zum Ganztagsunterricht – und zwar in die Feuerwehrausbildung. Der Feuerwehrunterricht zum Nachwuchsfeuerwehrmann oder zur Nachwuchsfeuerwehrfrau geht zwei Jahre. Die Schüler werden streng nach Lehrplan unterrichtet. Das Ganztagsangebot soll einen Einblick in die Arbeit der Feuerwehr geben. Erste Hilfe leisten gehört beispielsweise zum Unterricht. Die Schüler könnten zukünftige Kameradinnen und Kameraden der Freiwilligen Feuerwehr werden, denn dort besteht oft Nachwuchsmangel.
