Задача: В одном царстве к принцессе сватаются тысяча женихов. Один за другим они приходят знакомиться, и сразу после ей нужно решить — соглашаться на свадьбу или прогнать жениха навсегда. Если в итоге принцесса не выбрет лучшего жениха, она с горя уйдёт в монастырь…

Оказывается, существует стратегия, которая даёт принцессе шанс успеха около 37%. Это удивительно — ведь у невесты нет никакой информации, кроме количества женихов. На лекции мы вместе переоткроем эту стратегию и докажем, что она оптимальна.

Кроме того, что задача о невесте заложила основы целого раздела в теории вероятностей и теории игр, она вовсе не отвлечённая — в жизни часто приходится выбирать на ходу — согласиться на лучшее предложение, найти самую дешевую заправку по пути или определиться с планами на будущее.
