En Ukraine, en Russie et à Taïwan, "Tracks East"rencontre designers et créatifs pour qui le vêtement est bien plus qu’un bout de tissu.
À Kiev, la marque Gunia Project signe des vêtements et des accessoires pour Volodymyr Zelensky et la première dame d’Ukraine. Sa fondatrice, Maria Gavryliuk, prouve qu’un pays, même en temps de guerre, peut se distinguer à travers ses créations de mode. Et elle explique pourquoi cette démarche est perçue comme un symbole d’invincibilité.
En Russie, la mode occidentale est associée à une normalité perdue. Aujourd’hui, de nouvelles boutiques ouvrent leurs portes dans les centres commerciaux de Moscou. Chez TVOE & CO, Zara, Bershka et Massimo Dutti refont leur apparition. Faut-il y voir un grand retour des marques occidentales ? Et malgré les sanctions, un changement dans la vie quotidienne des Russes ?
À Taïwan, la créatrice Jenn Lee privilégie le look rétro. Pour sa nouvelle collection, elle collabore avec des spécialistes de la robe chinoise traditionnelle, la qipao, apportant une touche contemporaine à ces pièces. Sa mode est l’expression d’une rébellion et d’une affirmation culturelle.
