Europa se prepara para una intensa ola de calor, mientras España, el Reino Unido y Francia han emitido alertas rojas.En España, se prevé que la ciudad costera de San Sebastián alcance una temperatura máxima de 40 grados, casi el doble de la media registrada para el mismo periodo en años anteriores. Las autoridades han instado a la población a limitar la exposición prolongada al aire libre y a extremar las precauciones para proteger a los grupos más vulnerables.
Las temperaturas extremas también afectan al Reino Unido, donde Escocia e Irlanda del Norte han registrado las temperaturas más altas del año. La empresa National Rail ha recomendado evitar los desplazamientos el miércoles y el jueves debido a las elevadas temperaturas previstas.
En Francia, al menos 40 personas han fallecido ahogadas en los últimos días mientras intentaban refrescarse para escapar del intenso calor. El país registró el martes el día más caluroso de su historia, con una temperatura máxima de 44,3 grados Celsius.
