In this interview with ICRC spokesperson Hashem Osseiran on W News, presented by Leigh-Ann Gerrans, Osseiran describes the humanitarian situation in Gaza as “beyond catastrophic,” echoing the ICRC president’s label of it being “hell on earth.”He says civilians are struggling hourly to find food, water, and shelter, with children going hungry and families being turned away from community kitchens. The ICRC field hospital in Rafah, with only 60 beds, has received over 180 patients in a single day, far exceeding its capacity. Osseiran warns that limited medical supplies, repeated mass casualty incidents, and restricted aid flow are pushing the system toward collapse. He urges an immediate and unimpeded surge of humanitarian aid and a cessation of hostilities to restore hope to Gaza’s civilians.
