11 medaglie per il biathlon, 52milioni di euro di investimento, 19 mila spettatori: sono i numeri della Biathlon Anterselva Arena in Alto Adige. Un impianto che esste dal 1971 e che è stato gradulamente ammordenato fino alle ultime modifiche apportate come richieste dal Cio in vista delle Olimpiadi Milano-Cortina 2026 (qui i video di tutte le strutture).
«La novità più grande è la parte ultima del tracciato. È una zona molto spettacolare per gli atleti a cui sembra di entrare direttamente in tribuna e per gli spettatori che osservano da vicino i partecipanti» spiega Georg Kircher, direttore gara e responsabile sportivo Sudtirol Biathlon Arena. Sotto lo stadio è stato costruito anche un sistema di tunnel che raggiunge tutta la pista e permette di dividere i flussi di atleti e fotografi come richiesto in vista dei XXV Giochi Olimpici Invernali.
Nuova anche l'armeria che viene gestita da un sistema di controllo molto rigido e il nuovo poligono di tiro. «Questo è uno spazio che appartiene alla legacy delle Olimpiadi: durante i Giochi verrà utilizzato come area per i giornalisti e i media, poi assumerà il suo aspetto finale. Un poligono con 8 linee di tiro per una distanza di 50 metri a cui si affianca anche una cabina refrigerata a -20°C per prove al freddo» racconta Lorenz Leitbeg, presidente comitato organizzatore Biathlon Anterselva.
