In occasione della vittoria della Spagna ai Mondiali, il land artist italiano Dario Gambarin ha realizzato a Castagnaro, in provincia di Verona, una nuova monumentale opera sulla terra dedicata «al valore universale dello sport e alla sua capacità di unire popoli e nazioni».
L’opera occupa un campo di stoppie di grano appena trebbiato di circa 30.000 metri quadrati. Al centro della composizione è raffigurata la Coppa del Mondo, alta circa duecento metri, accompagnata dalla scritta «ESPAÑA», in omaggio alla squadra vincitrice e alla tradizione calcistica spagnola: «Lo sport ci mostra che è possibile affrontarsi senza diventare nemici. Alla fine delle partite restano le strette di mano e gli abbracci tra avversari. Un’immagine che dovrebbe ispirare anche la diplomazia: attraverso regole condivise, equità e rispetto reciproco, la competizione può diventare incontro e contribuire alla pace» spiega l'artista.
