Nel corso della replica alle comunicazioni in vista del Consiglio europeo del 19-20 marzo 2026, Meloni ha risposto alle critiche provenienti dai banchi dell'opposizione. "Vedete io mi sono convinta che vi è dispiaciuto che stamattina la condanna del governo sia stata chiara e ferma", ha detto il primo ministro in merito alla strage delle bambine iraniane avvenuta nella scuola di Minab dopo un attacco USA. "Noi siamo stati molto chiari anche sul conflitto in Iran. Davvero voi considerate insufficiente dire che l’obiettivo è evitare l’escalation, che stiamo facendo il possibile? Sì. È da vigliacchi? Sì, perfetto perché sono le parole usate da Conte all’indomani dell’attacco unilaterale con cui gli Usa nel 2020 uccisero in territorio iracheno il generale iraniano Soleimani".
"Allora, quando gli Stati Uniti uccisero Soleimani con un raid fuori dalle regole del diritto internazionale e al governo c’era Conte con ministri del Pd, nessuno lo definì contrario al diritto internazionale né lo condannò come oggi chiedete a me", ha dichiarato la premier.
