President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump joined roughly 140,000 spectators for the first-ever IndyCar race through Washington DC, marking the finale of America's 250th anniversary celebrations. Twenty-five drivers from 14 nations competed on a 2.7-kilometre street circuit, with American Kyle Kirkwood taking victory. The event, costing IndyCar an estimated $35 million but expected to generate up to $200 million for the city, drew criticism from nonprofits over potential vibration damage to nearby museums, claims organisers and the White House have dismissed.Al Jazeera’s Tanya Noury reports from Washington DC.
