NOTE FROM TED: Please do not look to this talk as a substitute for health advice. This talk only represents the speaker's personal views and understanding of the menstrual cycle, nutrition, and lifestyle. Several claims lack sufficient scientific support. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/tedx_content_guidelines.pdfPeriods affect billions of people, yet conversations about them are still often met with discomfort and stigma. In this talk, Kelsey Logan challenges the silence surrounding menstrual health and invites audiences to reimagine periods as a source of knowledge rather than shame. By introducing the four phases of the menstrual cycle and exploring how they influence our bodies and daily lives, she shows how greater cycle awareness can foster self-understanding, inclusivity, and a healthier relationship with our bodies. What if talking about periods wasn't awkward, but empowering? Kelsey Logan is a public policy graduate, researcher, and founder of The Synch, a community dedicated to helping people live in harmony with their menstrual cycles. Through her academic work and independent research, she has explored topics surrounding menstrual health and the ways nutrition, movement, and lifestyle can support hormonal well-being. She also participated in a research study focused on cycle syncing, deepening her understanding of the science and lived experiences behind menstrual health.
Driven by a passion for education and community, Kelsey founded The Synch to create spaces where conversations about periods are normalized and celebrated. Through immersive events, The Synch combines menstrual cycle education with practical experiences, including discussions on how food and movement influence each phase of the cycle, nourishing meals designed with hormonal health in mind, and movement-based offerings such as workout classes that encourage participants to connect with their bodies.
By blending research, wellness, and community, Kelsey aims to empower people to better understand their cycles and embrace a more intuitive approach to health and self-care. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx Receive SMS online on sms24.me
