Building India’s AI Infrastructure Advantage | Mahima Agarwal, with Sravan Appana

Everyone is watching the chips. The thing that decides whether any of it runs is sitting one layer down.

In this Nasscom In Conversation episode, Mahima Agarwal, VP Global R&D, Transactional & Edge LoB, Secure Power Division, Energy Management Business at Schneider Electric, in conversation with Sravan Appana, Founder & CEO of iGowise, explains why infrastructure went from an afterthought to the central question once AI moved to scale. Power is now the currency of AI, with roughly 200 GW of new capacity needed in the next five years. The last decade was about cloud strategy. The next one is about energy strategy.

Mahima also takes apart an assumption the industry held for years. Performance, reliability and sustainability were treated as competing priorities. Better UPS efficiency and liquid cooling have changed that: more efficient power now supports more compute while consuming less energy.

For Indian startups, Mahima is specific about the opening. Rack power density is heading from 100 kW toward 600 kW within two years, and the architecture is shifting from AC to 800V DC. Battery chemistries, power electronics, cooling and digital twins are all in play.
