Großbrand bei St. Leon-Rot: Über 800 Strohballen stehen in Flammen
Am Freitagabend gegen 19:22 Uhr kam es auf einem Feld bei St. Leon-Rot zu einem Großbrand. Mehr als 800 gelagerte Strohballen gerieten aus bislang ungeklärter Ursache in Brand.Die Feuerwehr konnte die riesige Menge an brennendem Stroh nicht vollständig ablöschen und entschied sich deshalb, die Strohballen kontrolliert abbrennen zu lassen. Die Einsatzkräfte überwachten den Brand und rechneten damit, dass die Arbeiten bis Samstagmittag andauern würden.
Durch den Brand entstand eine weithin sichtbare Rauchentwicklung. Der entstandene Sachschaden wird ersten Einschätzungen zufolge auf einen hohen fünfstelligen Betrag geschätzt.
Die Polizei hat die Ermittlungen zur Brandursache aufgenommen. Zeugen, die Hinweise zur Entstehung des Feuers geben können, werden gebeten, sich beim Polizeirevier Wiesloch unter 06222 / 57090 zu melden.
