JAISHANKAR ON MIGRATION | India Firmly Supports Legal Mobility Of People, Rejects Illegal Migration
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has outlined India’s position on the global movement of people, saying India firmly and unambiguously supports the legal mobility of Indians who work abroad.Jaishankar said India does not support illegal or irregular migration and stressed that India has concluded bilateral agreements with several countries, including European nations, to facilitate regulated and legal mobility of people.
The External Affairs Minister also highlighted the growing international demand for Indian talent and skills. He pointed to sectors including semiconductors, microelectronics, automobiles and healthcare, where skilled professionals such as doctors and nurses are in demand.
Jaishankar said the globalised economy is not only about the movement of capital and goods but also about the flow of talent and skills. He emphasised that such mobility should be legal, regulated and mutually beneficial.
