Der MSCI World steht nicht nur wegen seiner Zusammensetzung in der Kritik, er entwickelt sich auch vergleichsweise enttäuschend in diesem Jahr. Ist er deshalb ein schlechter Index? Sollten Anleger über einen Verkauf des Weltaktienindex nachdenken oder ist das wenig sinnvoll? Welche Alternativen gibt es? „In diesem Jahr haben wir die Besonderheit, dass europäische Aktien besser laufen als amerikanische. Die haben zwar auch teilweise wieder Rekorde erzielt, aber z.B. der Dax läuft besser. Im MSCI World haben wir ein extrem hohes US-Gewicht mit über 70 Prozent. Das drückt auf die Performance. Und der MSCI World wird zudem noch in US-Dollar gerechnet und wir haben einen schwachen US-Dollar. Das macht es dann Euro-Anlegern noch einmal ein bisschen schlechter“, so Jessica Schwarzer. „Außerdem haben die Tech-Aktien ein Gewicht von über 30 Prozent. Und es ist gar kein Welt-Index - die Schwellenländer fehlen. Mittlerweile haben wir einen echten World Index, den MSCI All Country World Index. Ich würde aber den MSCI World nicht so schnell aus dem Depot werfen."
