When did Central Asia become "Asian"? Although the majority of those in Central Asia today are of Turkic origin and hence more closely related genetically and culturally to other Eastern Eurasians such as the Mongols and Tungusic tribes of Northeast Asia, a couple thousand years ago the region and it's inhabitants were quite different, being more closely related to Western Eurasians such as the inhabitants of Europe and the Middle East with very little Eastern Eurasian influence. Over the course of thousands of years more and more migrants and conquerors arrived from the East, displacing, assimilating and wiping out most of the Indo-European inhabitants of Central Asia with a few exceptions such as in Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
