Mumbai Monsoon: Roads, Subways Flooded Due to Rain; Over 250 Flights Affected; Schools Shut | N18GHeavy rain has continued to lash India’s Mumbai city and the surrounding areas for the fourth consecutive day. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for intense rain in Mumbai and its suburbs. The rain warning will remain in place until August 21. Local authorities have declared a holiday for all government and semi-government offices. Schools and colleges in nearby regions have also remained closed. Local authorities have urged private offices to allow employees to work from home. The heavy downpour has also caused severe waterlogging and traffic disruptions. Residents in Mumbai have been urged to stay at home and avoid unnecessary travel. In Mumbai alone, at least 250 flights have been affected due to extreme weather conditions. Local trains have also suffered delays after rainwater entered the tracks. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that at least seven people have died due to the heavy rain, and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has also taken stock of the situation.
