Він пережив понад п’ять років російського полону, тортури. Повернувся в Україну під час великого обміну політв’язнями. А після початку повномасштабної війни знову пішов на фронт. Микола Карпюк – співзасновник УНА-УНСО, громадський і політичний діяч, колишній політв’язень Кремля та військовослужбовець ЗСУ. 19 вересня він загинув у бою на Запорізькому напрямку.
