İngiltere'nin yeni başbakanı Keir Starmer kimdir?
Birleşik Krallık'taki Başbakanlık Ofisi ilk kez Yahudi bir aileye ev sahipliği yapıyor. İngiltere’nin güneyindeki küçük bir kasabadan gelen bir insan hakları avukatı, Birleşik Krallık’ın yeni başbakanı oldu. İşçi Partisi 14 yıl sonra parlamentoda çoğunluğu sağlayarak seçimi kazandı. Keir Starmer'ın ülkenin yeni başbakanı oldu. Sadece 9 yıldır siyasetin içinde. Ancak partisini yakın tarihte yaşadığı en kötü seçim yenilgisinden kurtarıp İngiliz siyasetinde baskın bir güç haline getirdi. Bir dönem Kraliçe Elizabeth'in de danışmanlığını yapan bu isim girdiği ilk genel seçimde partisini iktidara taşıdı. Dahası, Batılı müttefiklerinin popülizme yöneldiği bir dönemde elde ettiği bu başarı, onu dünyanın önde gelen merkezci liderlerinden biri haline getirdi. Rakiplerine göre ise tüm bunlar bir şanstan ibaret.İngilizlerin yarısından fazlası onun neyi savunduğunu tam olarak anlamadıklarını söylüyor; sadece beşte biri ise kriz anlarında iyi olduğunu düşünüyor. Starmer, 2008 ile 2013 yılları arasında başsavcı olmadan önce insan hakları avukatıydı. Henüz 39 yaşındayken Kraliçe Elizabeth'in hukuk danışmanları arasına girdi. 2008'de ise Kraliyet Savcılık Ofisinin başına getirildi. Bu görevdeyken önemli soruşturmalara imza attı. Siyasi kariyerine hızlı bir başlangıç yapan Starmer, partisi içinde kısa sürede önemli bir figür haline geldi. Starmer'a göre halk değişim için ona oy verdi.
