PSSI Pecat Indra Sjafri Usai Timnas Indonesia U-20 Gagal ke Piala Dunia, Erick Thohir: Profesional

Keputusan ini diambil, setelah Timnas U-20 gagal di Piala Asia U-20 2025, yang berlangsung di Shenzhen, Tiongkok, dan harus tersingkir di fase grup.
Ketua Umum (Ketum) PSSI Erick Thohir mengatakan bahwa keputusan memberhentikan Indra Sjafri tersebut dari hasil evaluasi bersama tim.
Meski keputusan tersebut diambil, Erick mengungkapkan rasa terima kasih yang mendalam kepada Indra Sjafri.
Yakni atas dedikasi dan prestasi yang sudah diraihnya, seperti kemenangan Timnas U-19 di AFF U-19 2024 serta lolos ke Piala Asia U-20 2024.
Erick menegaskan bahwa keputusan ini diambil secara profesional dan Indra Sjafri juga menerima keputusan tersebut dengan lapang dada.
Ketua Umum PSSI tersebut menegaskan, dirinya dan Indra secara pribadi dan organisasi tetap berhubungan baik.
Erick mengatakan bahwa Indra masih dan akan tetap menjadi bagian dari sepak bola Indonesia.
Meski kecewa dengan hasil di Piala Asia U-20, Erick menegaskan bahwa PSSI akan segera mencari pengganti Indra Sjafri untuk melanjutkan program pembinaan pemain muda yang telah dimulai sejak dua tahun lalu.
PSSI berharap pelatih baru dapat membawa Timnas U-20 lebih maju dan mempersiapkan mereka untuk slot di Timnas senior di masa depan.
Diberitakan sebelumnya, Timnas Indonesia U-20 mendapatkan hasil buruk di Piala Asia U-20, di mana Garuda Muda keluar sebagai juru kunci Grup C, menjadi alasan utama pemecatan Indra Sjafri.
Garuda Muda hanya meraih satu poin dari tiga pertandingan setelah bermain imbang 0-0 melawan Yaman U-20.
Sementara, di dua laga sebelumnya mereka kalah dari Iran (0-3) dan Uzbekistan (1-3).
